Welcome to the Church

St. Mary's Soonoro Patriarchal Cathedral , one of the prominent churches of Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Christians in Malankara was established in 1974.  It is located in the city of Cochin, the business capital of the state of Kerala, India.
The presence of a portion of the Holy Girdle of Virgin Mary gives a lot of blessings through this Cathedral. The main altars of the church are dedicated to the Holy Mother Mary,  St Joseph, St George, Patriarch St Ignatius Elias III of Majanikkara and St. Gregorios Geevarghese of Parumala .

The impressive church we  revere today can trace its roots back to the days when it was a modest structure propped by bamboo framework shaded by a roof of overlying palm leaves and mats for the congregation to worship on, constructed in the midst of 31 cents of land granted by Kochakan K.M. David to Perumpally Dr. Geevarghese Mar Gregarius Thirumeni.
